Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and passionate educator to join our team as the Head of the English Department for our middle school. As the Middle School English Head of Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the EFL curriculum, managing a team of dedicated teachers, and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning for students learning English as a Foreign language. Your role will involve curriculum development and implementation of a comprehensive English program; evaluation and assessment of student improvement; teacher mentoring, and fostering a collaborative department culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Middle School English Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
•  Develop and implement a comprehensive and effective EFL curriculum tailored to the needs of learners
•  Mentor and support English teachers, providing professional development and enhancing a positive departmental culture.
• Evaluate the English curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students and promotes critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills.
• Coordinate and oversee extracurricular activities related to the English program, such as Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) and English clubs.
• Utilize technology and IT skills to enhance teaching and administrative processes within the department.
• Maintain digital resources, manage online learning platforms, and ensure effective use of educational technology.
•  Stay current with educational research and trends in English education and integrate relevant innovations into the department's practices.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and development.
•  Coordinate the Middle School English program across five campuses of İzmir Özel Türk Koleji

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, TEFL, TESOL; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of EFL teaching experience, with a proven track record of success.
•  Previous leadership or departmental management experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of EFL curriculum and pedagogy, including effective strategies for teaching English as a foreign language.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in IT skills, including the use of educational technology and online learning platforms.
•  Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
•  Awareness of 21st Century Skills and Sustainable Development Goals with the aim of raising responsible Global Citizens.
