To support the buying process, HEMA has its own sourcing and procurement organization in Asia (HEMA FE) and Europe (HEMA EMEA). HEMA EMEA covers the European, Middle East and African region. The EMEA office supports our HEMA NL head office.

Job responsibilities: merchandiser

Sourcing tasks

As a sourcing specialist, work on multiple sourcing demands, including sourcing requests from head office, new market trends and white spots in suppliers.

Source new suppliers and products.  Target new products opportunities, cost down or quality improvements.

Work according to standard sourcing procedures.  Communicate HEMA values, terms, factory audits and quality control expectations to the new suppliers.  Check their commercial potential as new suppliers to HEMA.  Follow suppliers’ approval process.

Regularly provide market trend, design input to head office.

Development follow-up

Properly prepare for buying trips according to standard operation procedure. 

Arrange, attend and support buying trips up to buyers’ expectation.

Control timelines to ensure developments and order process are all on track.

Other: Perform ad-hoc projects as assigned by the management

Order follow-up

Manage order process according to the standard Critical Path method.

Coordinate with team members, logistic forwarder and 3rd party inspection company.

Support in administrative and filing activities.

Monitoring supplier’s performance and compliance towards HEMA minimum requirements on Social Compliance and Quality Control.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (minimum).

5-7 years merchandising experience in textiles, familiar with high-risk products, such as baby and children’s articles.

Experience in a European Buying office is a plus.

Willingness and capability to learn on job and flexibility according to the need of company growth.

Good communication skills with the buyers and suppliers.

Good time management skills.

Good spoken & written in English.

Problem solving skills.

Proficiency in PC skills.

Positive, hands-on mentality, independent, proactive and international minded.

Highly responsible and self-initiative and a good team player.

Occasional travel is required.

Able to work under pressure.
