Ghafari Associates is looking for ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER to join our ISTANBUL, TURKEY office. Candidates will work a HYBRID schedule, with at least 3 days in the Istanbul Office.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Electrical Design Engineer, with some supervision from the Lead Electrical Engineer or MEP Manager, will provide design or analysis for lighting, power, new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, governmental and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. The Electrical Design Engineer will provide engineering to develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection and control of architectural, electrical and mechanical components.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design and/or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical components.
• Using applicable codes and standards, grounding, design and engineer lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems including sizing of equipment, etc.
• Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.
• Knowledge of the NEC,IEC, Turkish Local Codes and other relevant NFPA standards, as they apply to the electrical design.
• Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.
• Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of grounding, lighting, power systems, etc.
• Possess / demonstrate the graphic ability to produce construction documents (electrical) per company and client standards.
• Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction (electrical) documents.
• Conduct field measuring and checking at the project site.
• Maintain organized project file containing load, voltage drop, lighting and grounding calculations, schedules, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.
• With assistance, edit and draft project specifications.
• Review project submittals (application and shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.
• Prepare project cost estimates and technical specifications.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering field
• Experience with LV and MV Systems, electrical load calculations, power distribution, lighting calculations and design, short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc flash hazard software (e.g. SKM, ETAP, SIMARIS or EasyPower)
• Industrial facility design experience preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD
• Experience with SKM, ETAP, SIMARIS or EasyPower
• Bluebeam knowledge preferred
• Dialux knowledge preferred
• BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
• Advance written and verbal communication in English
• Strong attention to detail
