QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive 'Material Controller'to join our Supply Chain team at our mobile phone factory in Turkey. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of BOM (Bill of Materials) materials to support continuous production. The ‘Material Controller’ will be responsible for managing inventory levels, creating material requisitions, optimizing shipment plans to minimize inventory and reduce Excess & Obsolete (E&O) risks, managing Minimum Purchase Quantity (MPQ) requests with suppliers, and maintaining robust communication with both domestic and international suppliers, particularly in China. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in material planning and inventory control within a manufacturing environment.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field,
Minimum 3 years of experience in material control, inventory management, or production planning roles,preferably in a manufacturing environment,
Proven experience in managing BOM materials and inventory in a production setting,
Strong understanding of inventory management principles, techniques (e.g., MRP, JIT), and best practices,
Experience in creating material requisitions, managing purchase orders, and coordinating with procurement teams,
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends to optimize inventory,
Robust and proactive communication skills, with experience in communicating with international suppliers, especially in China,
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment,
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.),
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.) or other inventory management software is highly desirable,
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken,
Mandarin Chinese language skills are highly preferred,
Male candidates must have completed military service,
Resides on the Asian side (Location is: Tuzla).
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
Experience in the electronics or mobile phone manufacturing industry,
Knowledge of import/export regulations and international shipping processes,
Familiarity with lean inventory management principles,
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team,
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills,
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities:
BOM Material Inventory Management:
Monitor and manage inventory levels of all BOM materials to ensure optimal stock levels, balancing continuous supply with inventory holding costs and E&O risks,
Implement and maintain inventory control strategies and parameters (e.g., safety stock levels, reorder points, min/max inventory levels) based on demand forecasts, lead times, and production plans,
Conduct regular inventory analysis to identify slow-moving, excess, or obsolete materials and recommend disposition actions.
Material Requisitioning & Supply Assurance:
Generate timely and accurate material requisitions (MRs) based on production plans and inventory levels to ensure continuous material supply to production lines,
Proactively follow up on material requisitions with the procurement team to ensure timely Purchase Order (PO) placement and supplier confirmation,
Expedite critical material deliveries as needed to prevent production disruptions,
Work closely with production planning to understand upcoming material requirements and adjust requisitioning plans accordingly.
Inventory Optimization & E&O Risk Reduction:
Analyze historical demand patterns, lead times, and market trends to optimize shipment plans and minimize inventory holding,
Develop strategies to reduce Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory, including optimizing order quantities, negotiating flexible supplier agreements, and implementing inventory reduction programs,
Monitor and report on inventory metrics, including inventory turnover, days of supply, and E&O inventory levels.
Minimum Purchase Quantity (MPQ) Management:
Manage Minimum Purchase Quantity (MPQ) requests with suppliers, seeking to negotiate favorable MPQs to minimize excess inventory and optimize order sizes,
Analyze the impact of MPQs on inventory levels and procurement costs, and recommend strategies to mitigate potential risks.
Supplier Communication & Relationship Management (China Focus):
Establish and maintain robust and proactive communication channels with suppliers, particularly those based in China, to ensure clear understanding of requirements, timely information exchange, and effective issue resolution,
Communicate material forecasts, purchase orders, and delivery schedules to suppliers in a clear and timely manner,
Proactively follow up with Chinese suppliers on order status, shipment schedules, and potential delays,
Address supplier inquiries and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to material supply.
Logistics Coordination & Shipment Tracking:
Constantly communicate and coordinate with the logistics team to understand shipment schedules, flight statuses, and potential transportation delays for incoming materials, especially from China,
Proactively track shipments and update relevant stakeholders on delivery timelines,
Work with logistics to optimize shipping methods and routes to balance cost and delivery speed.
Inventory Accuracy & Data Management:
Collaborate closely with the warehouse and production teams to ensure accurate and timely inventory data updates in the system,
Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to verify inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies,
Maintain accurate records of material transactions, inventory movements, and adjustments in the ERP system,
Generate inventory reports and analyses to support material planning and decision-making.
